Delete Account & Data
Last updated: June 2026
This page explains how to delete your Urge account and associated personal data, what data is removed, what is retained and why, and how long the process takes. This page is publicly accessible — no login is required to read it or to submit a deletion request by email.
1. Delete in the app (recommended)
If you have access to your account, the fastest way to delete it is directly inside the app:
- Open Urge on your device.
- Go to Settings (the gear icon in the top-right).
- Tap Delete Account.
- Read the disclosure and choose one of two options:
- Delete in 30 days (default). Your account is immediately deactivated and hidden from other users. After 30 days with no sign-in, it is permanently erased. During this window you can cancel by simply signing back in.
- Delete immediately. Your account and personal data are permanently erased without a recovery window.
Both options are built into the current version of the app and require no further action from you once confirmed.
2. Request deletion by email (if you cannot access the app)
If you have lost access to your account or are otherwise unable to complete deletion in the app, email us at privacy@urge18.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". Include:
- The email address or phone number associated with your Urge account.
- A brief description of why you cannot delete in-app (optional, but helpful).
We will verify your identity against our records and process the deletion. We aim to respond and complete erasure within 30 days of a verified request, in line with GDPR Article 17. If we need additional information to verify your identity, we will contact you within 7 days.
Email requests are handled by OVDEVEL LLC's privacy team. You will receive a confirmation once erasure is complete.
3. What is deleted
Upon account deletion (in-app or by request), the following personal data is permanently erased:
- Account credentials — email address, phone number, and any linked sign-in identifiers (Apple/Google).
- Profile data — display name, date of birth, gender, photos, bio, height, job, education, interests, languages, lifestyle details, and relationship preferences.
- Precise location data stored on our servers.
- Chat messages (messages already auto-expire 72 hours after sending; any remainder is deleted with the account).
- Usage and device data linked to your account (logs, device identifiers, IP records associated with your account record).
- Any remaining push notification tokens associated with your account.
Profile photos stored in our cloud storage are deleted as part of the same erasure job that purges the account record.
4. What is retained and why
A small category of records are retained after account deletion where the law requires or permits it. These are the only exceptions:
- Payment and subscription records — approximately 7 years. Transaction identifiers and subscription status records must be kept to meet tax and accounting obligations under Georgian and applicable law (GDPR Art. 17(3)(b)). These records do not contain your full payment-card details, which are held exclusively by Apple or Google.
- Safety reports (non-CSAE) — up to approximately 3 years from closure. Reports you submitted or that were made about your account may be retained for the legitimate interest of keeping the community safe and resolving disputes, and to comply with applicable law. Where the report was made by another user, their identity is anonymised in our records after their account is purged.
- Child-safety (CSAE) evidence — at least 1 year under legal hold. If an account is subject to an active child-safety hold (for example, because a report of child sexual abuse material has been made), that evidence is preserved for the duration required by applicable law and cannot be erased until the hold expires or is lifted. This hold overrides the normal 30-day deletion window. OVDEVEL LLC reports confirmed CSAE to the relevant law-enforcement authorities as required.
- Aggregate, non-identifiable analytics containing no user ID, email address, profile data, precise location, device identifier, or message content may be retained indefinitely.
No personal data is sold. Special-category data (such as sexual orientation, which you may have included in your profile) is deleted with your account and is never used for advertising.
5. Timeline
- In-app default deletion: account deactivated and hidden immediately; permanent erasure within 30 days if you do not sign back in.
- In-app immediate deletion: permanent erasure begins as soon as you confirm; normally completed within a few minutes.
- Email request: we aim to verify and complete erasure within 30 days of receiving a valid, verified request.
6. Cancelling a pending deletion
If you used the default 30-day soft-delete and change your mind, sign back in to your account before the 30-day window expires. This cancels the deletion and restores your account. After 30 days the deletion is irreversible.
7. Right to erasure and other privacy rights
The right to delete your account and data is part of your broader right to erasure under GDPR Article 17 and equivalent Georgian law. You also have rights to access, correct, port, and restrict the processing of your data. To exercise any right, contact privacy@urge18.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority (in Georgia: the competent supervisory authority under the Law of Georgia on Personal Data Protection; in the EU/EEA: your national data-protection authority).
For full details of how we handle your data, see our Privacy Policy.
